FULL INFO: MTA Removes Several Bus Stops on 13th Avenue

Anyone who drives down 13th Avenue knows the story. Traffic, double parking, and buses trying to squeeze through tight blocks have long been part of the daily routine. Now, a noticeable change is coming to the avenue.

The MTA has removed several closely spaced bus stops along the B16 line, a move that is meant to ease congestion and improve service. In place of stops at nearly every block, buses will now stop every second block, opening up additional space that is expected to ease some of the constant parking pressure.

In a statement to BoroPark24, MTA spokesperson Kayla Shults said, “To improve service for riders by alleviating street congestion, the MTA moved four closely spaced and frequently blocked bus stops along the B16 on 13th Avenue.”

The following stops have been discontinued:

• 13th Ave at 41st Street
• 13th Ave at 45th Street
• 13th Ave at 49th Street
• 13th Ave at 52nd Street

Buses will continue stopping at nearby locations:

• 13th Ave at 43rd Street
• 13th Ave at 47th Street
• 13th Ave at 50th Street
• 13th Ave at 54th Street

The MTA confirmed to BoroPark24 that these changes are permanent, following an internal review of ridership patterns and traffic conditions in the area.
