Green Infrastructure Work Starting on 43d Street and 14th Avenue

City construction is now underway on 43rd Street between 14th Avenue and 15th Avenue, as part of a public infrastructure project aimed at preventing flooding in the area.

According to a community advisory posted by the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC), the work officially began January 21, 2026, on the west side of 43rd Street. The project is tied to green infrastructure improvements in the Gravesend Bay CSO Tributary Area (Phase 3).

City officials say the construction is expected to take 2 to 4 weeks to complete. Work will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

During construction hours, no parking regulations will be in effect, and driveway access may be limited.

City officials acknowledged the inconvenience, but said the project is necessary to improve resiliency and reduce flooding risks.
