Grilling Banned In City Parks, Red Flag Warning In Effect

New restrictions are being placed on NYC residents as the dry conditions continue.
The National Weather Service has placed a Red Flag Warning of potential wildfires on New York City and the entire Lower Hudson Valley that is in effect until tonight. A Red Flag Warning indicates the high risk of a fire starting due to weather conditions. The combination of the recent lack of rain and the high winds and humidity predicted for today significantly raises the threat of a fire starting and spreading rapidly.
Additionally, Mayor Adams recently implemented a grilling ban in all city parks.
“Effective immediately, we are prohibiting grilling in our parks, and we need all New Yorkers to take commonsense steps to prevent brush fires," Mayor Adams announced. "Getting through this drought will take all of us working together, and every drop counts, so let’s keep doing our part to save as much water as we can.”
