Heat Wave in Forecast for Tisha b’Av and Weekend

Oppressive heat and humidity are forecast for the coming days, including Tisha b’Av.
Temperatures will reach into the upper nineties for Thursday, Friday, and Shabbos, and it will feel like the low 100’s. This would be the first heat wave of the season.
A “excessive heat watch” has been issued by the National Weather Service for these days, and the public is being urged to drink plenty of fluids.
For Torah-observant Jews, this is an especially important directive, as we will fasting on Tisha b’Av.
Hatzolah is urging people to stay indoors, in well-cooled rooms, and to drink plenty before the fast, and to check on the elderly and loved ones with health issues.
