Heavy Blaze at 11th Avenue Residence

Firefighters battled a large two-alarm fire with heavy smoke and flames shooting up into the night sky on 11th Avenue and 59th Street.

According to neighbors, fireworks activity for the Lunar Day Chinese New Year celebration was going on at the house before it went up in flames. 

The home is in close proximity to others on the street. A number of newly married couples who live next to the burning residence were safely at their parents' homes during the fire and returned to tremendous damage in their own homes as a result of the conflagration. 

Three firefighters were transported to the hospital by Hatzolah due to injuries from combatting the blaze.
