Historic: Bobover Rebbe Declares Registering to Vote as Part of the Mosdos Takanis, Urges Every Member to Act

In a rare and first-ever statement, the Bobover Rebbe declared that registering to vote is just as much a part of the mosdos takanis as any other kehilah takanis. The Rebbe emphasized the importance of every kehila member over 17 being a registered voter, stating that this civic duty is as essential as all other takunes enforced in the mosdos and within the kehila.

The announcement came during a critical meeting for askanim hosted by the Rebbe in his home, where he addressed the challenges facing Klal Yisroel in New York and stressed that now, more than ever, every vote matters.

Bobov has long been known for its strong turnout during elections, but kehila leaders noted that over time, some members naturally fall off the rolls while a new generation comes of age. This initiative ensures that every member, young and old, remains part of the kehila’s united voice.

This Shabbos, Shabbos Selichos, before Krias Hatorah, the Bobover Dayan ascended the steps of the aron kodesh and, in the presence of the Rebbe, spoke about the grave challenges Klal Yisroel in New York is facing. He urged the tzibur to daven throughout the month of Tishrei that Hashem should bring yeshuos and protect the future of Torah and Yiddishkeit. The Dayan concluded by stressing that along with tefillah comes the responsibility of hishtadlus, urging everyone to register to vote so that the kehila’s voice can be fully heard.

Yesterday, on the first day of Selichos, the kehila launched a major registration drive with overwhelming results - nearly 1,000 participants signed up on the very first day, significantly boosting Bobov’s already powerful bloc vote.

Following the Rebbe’s call, the kehila will keep the drive going in the coming days until full registration is reached. Multiple drop-off locations and outreach efforts are in place to ensure that every single member is included.
