Hundreds of shuls, yeshivos, schools, and other Jewish institutions nationwide were each awarded $150,000 to strengthen their security measures against terrorist attacks, announced representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA).

The eye-popping sum of more than $250 million, which came through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, will enhance the physical security of the facilities and the people who frequent nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack,” said FEMA, which is a branch of the US Department of Homeland Security.

The grants aim to not only bolster doors, windows, and security cameras at institutions that are vulnerable to hate crimes, but to fund efforts that promote collaborations among nonprofit organizations and the broader security efforts of their communities and states, FEMA said.

While Jewish institutions nationwide will receive grants, in Boro Park, the following institutions were among the many that received generous funding to enhance their security efforts, the Yeshiva World News reported:

Beis Esther Closenburg: 1353 50th, and 1363 50th St. both received $150,000 each.

Bais Tziporah received $120,000.

The United Talmudical Academy of Boro Park received $150,000.

Gan Yisroel at 5124 16th Ave. received $140,000, and on 13th Church Avenue each received $150,000.

Yeshiva Beth Hillel of Krasna’s three locations on 42nd and 44th Streets in Boro Park received $150,000 each.

Yeled V'Yalda Childhood Center and Headstart Center each received $150,000.

FEMA has not yet officially released the complete list of Jewish organizations that received federal grants to bolster their security, the manager of Jewish nonprofit security organization in Brooklyn told BoroPark24.
