Hundreds to Gather for Big Lag BaOmer Hadlakah at Khal Hadras Kodesh Svoliva
The excitement is felt in the air as the community prepares for a beautiful celebration. Khal Hadras Kodesh Svoliva has quickly become a vibrant center of Torah and Tefillah that draws hundreds of Yungerleit every single Shabbos. Under the leadership of the esteemed Rav Shloime Appel Shlita, who is one of the prominent Rabonim in our community, the Kehillah continues to grow from strength to strength.
Now, as we approach the holy day of Lag BaOmer, the Kehillah has announced a Big Hadlakah that is expected to draw hundreds of people together to celebrate the Hillulah of the Tanna Elokei, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. To accommodate the many attendees, preparations include a platform and a wide area for dancing so that everyone can celebrate comfortably with their children. The event will take place this Monday evening on 11th Avenue, between 46th and 47th Street. The evening will begin with Maariv at 8:50 PM, followed immediately by short Divrei Hisorerus from the Rav Shlita to prepare the crowd for the light of the fire.
Following the Rav's words, there will be an opportunity for those who participated and donated to the Shul to take part in pouring oil into the Hadlakah. This will also be a time for families of the Kehillah to bring their young boys for their Upsherins.
Once the preparations are complete, the event will reach its peak as the flames are lit and hundreds of Yungerleit and children join together to sing and dance Lechovod HaTanna Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
