In Tribute: Mrs. Chana Silver, a”h

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Rivka Chana Silver, a longtime Boro Park resident, and a matriarch of a prominent Torah family. She was 77 years of age. 

The nifteres was the daughter of Reb Avrom Moshe Weil of Montreal, and she was raised in the Canadian city. 

She married Reb Shmiel Meir Silver, z”l, and together they raised a beautiful Torah family in Boro Park, with a number of marbitzei Torah among their offspring. Reb Shmiel Meir was unwell for ten years before he passed away ten years ago, and she was devoted to his wellbeing with heart and soul. 

Mrs. Silver always had a smile for everyone, and saw the ma’alos in each and every one of her grandchildren. She was also known for her tremendous emunah peshutah. 

Her petirah took place on Shemini Atzeres, and the Levaya was held outside the Tenka Shul where she davened for many years on Simchas Torah following Hallel. Hundreds of people filed out of shul, led by the Tenka Rov shlit”a, to give a kavod acharon to the nifteres. 

Shiva is being observed at 1462-41 Street until Thursday morning.
