Just In: Joel Eisdorfer, Mayor's Jewish Advisor, Steps Down from City Hall

After several years serving as the Jewish advisor to Mayor Adams, it was announced today that Joel Eisdorfer will leave City Hall in the coming months to prioritize family time.

While stepping away from his role, Joel remains committed to his original mission: fostering connections between the community and the mayor's office, supporting the community, and advocating for individuals' needs. He will continue this dedication as a volunteer on Adams’ reelection campaign next year and will also continue to chair the mayor’s Jewish Advisory Council.

NYPD Deputy Chief Richie Taylor praised Eisdorfer, stating, "Joel is a consummate professional who has brought tremendous positivity to government and to all communities in New York City. I couldn’t have had a better partner by my side as we successfully got through some of the toughest challenges. The positive relationship between the Mayor’s office, the NYPD and the communities we serve is the best it’s ever been in history and Joel was and will remain an integral part of that. I look forward to continue working with Joel in his role as Chair of the Mayor’s Jewish Advisory Council and I know that the best is yet to come!"

Fred Kreizman, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, added, "Working closely with Joel Eisdorfer has been both an honor and an inspiration. His unwavering dedication, passion, and tireless commitment to serving the Jewish community and bridging divides have set a remarkable standard for all of us to aspire to. Joel's impact on our City has been profound, and his legacy of compassion and excellence will resonate for years to come. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us in all that we do. I look forward to his continued leadership in the Jewish Advisory Council and working with him.”

As Joel departs from his position, the Heimishe community extends deep appreciation to him for being the right hand to the most Jewish-loved mayor we have ever had, assisting in every possible and impossible occasion.
