New York Jewry is excited to be greeting the Makava Rebbe, shlit”a, who will be undertaking the journey to the United States for the purpose of raising funds for Yeshiva Ateres Moshe-Makava in Kiryat Ata, the place of his residents.
Before his passing, the Rebbe’s father, the previous Makaver Rebbe asked his beloved son to continue his mission of harbotzas Torah.
The rebbe—who was born in the Hungarian town of Makava, where his father taught and disseminated Torah—continued this mission with great mesirus nefesh all the years. Having grown up in the postwar Hungary in the glow of his holy father, the Rebbe is known for his extraordinary avodah, his exertion in avodas Hashem, and his fire and fervor in Yiddishkeit which spreads out a holy aura throughout the secular town where he resides. Since coming to Kiryat Ata in the 1950’s, the Rebbe has served a beacon of Torah and holiness to the entire region.
With the founding of Mesivta “Ateres Moshe” in the town of Kiryat Ata, this mission has been taken to the next level.
At all hours, one will find young bochurim toiling in Torah within the confines of the yeshiva, constantly drawing chiyus and guidance from the influence of the Rebbe. In addition to shaping and molding these young hearts in the ways of Torah, chassidus, and yiras Shomayim, this institution serves as a lighthouse which spreads the fire of Yiddishkeit to the entire area, which is largely secular.
Now, the Rebbe undertakes this journey, enabling his many chassidim and admirers to join his effort and mission.
This coming motzei Shabbos, the rebbe will depart Eretz Yisroel for America and stay at the home of his host, the noted philanthropist Reb Dovid Yehuda Rubenstein in Monsey. He will also attend a number of fundraising events at which the tzibur will donate large sums to benefit the yeshiva.
A magnificent Shabbos parashas Toldos will be spent in Boro Park— an event that will draw thousands of Yidden to the tefillos and tischen throughout Shabbos.
On Monday, the Rebbe will depart New York for Hungary to visit the tziyun of his holy and saintly ancestor, the menuchas Asher of Tchenger on the day of his yohrtzeit, 5 Kislev.
