Local Woman Receives Jewish Burial in Boro Park Thanks to Kindhearted Yidden

A minyan of Yidden gathered at the ancient Washington Cemetery on Wednesday morning to lay to rest a woman by the name of Marcia bas Perel (Weinstein), but the saga leading up to this event was not simple at all.
Rabbi Yerachmiel Rothberger is the Jewish Community Liaison for Calvary Hospital and Calvary Hospice, and when he received the call that Mrs. Weinstein’s remains were slated for cremation, he dove into action, ultimately securing permission to have her buried according to Jewish ritual and tradition.
He contacted Rabbi Menachem Shor of Chessed Shel Emes, which generally buries mesei mitzvah in their upstate cemetery. However, a local oral surgeon who owns a family plot in Washington Cemetery generously agreed to donate a burial place whenever a Yid is saved from cremation (these plots are valued at about $25,000). Rabbi Shor told BoroPark24 that in the last few weeks alone, CSE has conducted a number of such burials on this plot.
And so it was that a group of Yidden, comprised of volunteers from CSE and Shomrim, gathered on Washington Cemetery to lay Mrs. Weinstein to rest. A passerby offered to recite kaddish for the neshamah of Mrs. Weinstein who merited, against all odds and thanks to extraordinary generosity and kindness, to be buried according to the Torah’s traditions.
