Man Sentenced for BQE Shooting in 2023
By Y.M. Lowy
A man was sentenced today to 15 years in prison for shooting into a taxi on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in 2023.
Mark Munoz pleaded guilty earlier this year to attempted murder. According to investigators, he followed a taxi carrying two passengers after having a dispute with one of them and fired several shots from his vehicle. One of the bullets struck a young woman in the backseat, seriously injuring her. Fortunately, doctors were able to save both her and her unborn child despite the severity of her injuries.
The shooting prompted a months-long investigation, and Munoz was arrested nearly a year later in Staten Island.
