Massive Fire Cripples Boro Park Streets

A massive fire on the top floor of a home on 47th Street is creating a traffic nightmare in the center of Boro Park on a busy Erev Yom Tov Shopping day.

The fire started around 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon, Taanis Esther, on 47th Street between 12th and 13th Avenues, and quickly spread across a large part of the roof of the private home.

Firefighters rushed to the scene, with some of them being struck in traffic, jumping out of the engine trucks and heading to the scene on foot.

Footage shows multiple trucks at the scene and firemen battling the flames, which can be seen burning through the roof of the home.
