Mayor Adams announced the winners of the annual Excellence in Design award, which is presented by the NYC Public Design Commission.
A total of 11 projects received an award this year for their
innovative and sustainable designs for various city and community projects.
Among them was an award presented to the Borough Park Library, as well as the NYC
Department of Environmental Protection in collaboration with NYC Parks in honor
of their design for a project in Gowanus, a neighborhood right near Boro Park, which
will provide 2 acres of public waterfront open space.
“When we invest in the beauty and functionality of our
public spaces, we create environments where everyone feels welcome and valued,
and these projects — from revitalized waterfront spaces to state-of-the-art
community facilities — embody our vision for a city where every neighborhood
thrives,” Mayor Adams said.
