Mayor de Blasio to Re-open New York City on July 1: Full-Strength

    Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this morning that “his plan is to fully-open New York City on July 1.”

     “We are ready for stores to open, for businesses to open, offices, theaters: full-strength,” said Mayor de Blasio, who explained that the city is ready to go back to business as usual because “what we are seeing is that people have gotten vaccinated in extraordinary numbers: 6.3 million vaccinations in New York City to date.”

    “We know the vaccination effort is going to grow and grow,” he added. “We gotta keep working hard at that.

    "The vaccine is what is going to get us out of this."

     To continue to vaccinate New York City Mayor de Blasio continues his considerable efforts, such as adding smaller, pop-up vaccine centers, and even vaccine buses that come right to neighborhoods to the already more than 600 vaccination centers in the city to make getting their shots even easier, less stressful, and more convenient for all New Yorkers.

      For New Yorkers who are “vaccine-hesitant,” the city is continuing its “Vaccine for All” outreach efforts to spread the word that the vaccine is safe, effective, and life-saving.

      Yesterday at the mayor’s press conference, Dave A. Chokshi, MD, the mayor’s health commissioner, said that he sent a letter to thousands of New York City healthcare providers, “asking them to speak with their patients about the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines,” Dr. Chokshi said.

     “Please, if you have questions about vaccination, you can talk to your doctor,” the mayor said. “But, most importantly, let's keep moving forward.

     “Let's get vaccinated for the good of the city, for a healthy city."
