A woman was arrested after she struck a moped, killing the driver and injuring his passenger.

The crash happened over Shabbos on 67th Street. According to police, the woman was driving west on 67th Street in a 2013 Acura when a moped going south on the avenue hit the passenger side of her car. The 22-year-old man driving the moped was taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 21-year-old man who was riding with him was taken to the same hospital with a broken arm and leg.

The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital in stable condition and later charged with driving while intoxicated and without a license.

NYPD data shows nearly 80 people have died in traffic crashes citywide this year. Thirteen of those deaths involved riders of mopeds.
