By Y.M. Lowy
The MTA has announced several service changes and travel updates for the 2025 New York City Marathon taking place on Sunday.
Travel to Staten Island will be adjusted early in the morning to accommodate runners heading to the marathon starting point, and shuttle buses will be available from the ferry terminal. Some subway lines, including parts of the No. 1 and No. 6 routes, will run express due to planned work.
The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will be fully closed to regular traffic from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, while the upper level will close the night before at 11 p.m. for preparations. Nearby exits in Staten Island will also be closed during that time.
Drivers and travelers are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel throughout the weekend.
