Multiple Chavivim Volunteers Head To Florida To Prepare For Hurricane Milton
By BoroPark24 Staff
Florida is currently preparing for Hurricane Milton, which is set to hit land tomorrow and is expected to be one of the most destructive hurricanes in history. The hurricane has been gaining strength and is being considered a Category 4 or 5 hurricane, causing millions of residents to evacuate their homes.
To help prepare for the hurricane and be on scene to assist, multiple Chavivim volunteers from Rockland, Orange County, Boro Park and Williamsburg headed out to Tampa, where they will be meeting 6 additional Tampa Chavivim volunteers who reside there.
They traveled with trailer-loads of a few rescue boats, 20 generators, and many other necessary lifesaving equipment to be prepared for any scenario that might arise.
“Chavivim Tampa Coordinator, Shia Lerner, reached out to our Search and Rescue team to assist with the hurricane approaching, utilizing our highly trained and prepared members along with their equipment and experience. Groups are currently underway, heading out to help residents prepare for the storm, while others will arrive later to assist in the aftermath,” said the Chavivim coordinator Chesky Sander.
“We hope our assistance won’t be needed in any severe way, and that this hurricane will pass with minimal incidents.”
