National Weather Service Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch in NYC

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 10pm tonight.

The rainstorm may be quite extreme: with quarter-sized hail, high winds of up to 70 miles-per-hour, and frequent lightning.

Although, while temperatures are in the 80s this early evening, when the city only sees a 15% chance of rain, tonight the chance of a rainstorm goes up to 99%.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected to begin at 7pm, turning to scattered thunderstorms at 8pm. By 9pm, when the rain turns to severe thunderstorms, Boro Parkers should make sure to head indoors to keep safe and dry.

The rain is expected to end overnight, and New Yorkers should wake up to sunshine on Thursday morning.
