New All-Electric Public School Nearing Completion on Fort Hamilton Parkway

Construction is entering its final stages on a new public intermediate school at 4002 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Boro Park, with the facility expected to welcome students for the 2026-2027 school year.

The four-story building, being constructed by the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA), will add 487 new student seats to District 15, including 72 seats dedicated to District 75 students, who receive specialized educational services.

The new school is also among the city's first fully electric public school buildings. Unlike traditional schools, the facility will operate without oil or natural gas, relying entirely on electricity for heating, cooling, and ventilation. A rooftop solar panel system is expected to generate approximately 74,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy each year.

Built on a 26,400-square-foot site, the project is designed to help address overcrowding while providing modern classrooms and learning spaces for students in the growing neighborhood.

With exterior work largely complete, crews are now focusing on final interior finishes, utility connections, and inspections ahead of the school's planned opening in September 2026.
