Now This: Cream Cheese Shortage Slams Jewish Community Week Before Shavuos
Boro Park - Make your cheesecakes early this year.
The reduced workforce caused by the coronavirus has caused a shortage of cream cheese, a key staple of Shavuos which arrives next week.
A spokesman for the J&J dairy company said that workers who used to come in six days a week have averaged in recent days just half that amount. As a result, production of the dairy delight has plummeted and there is no cream cheese on the store shelves.
The spokesman said that he expects supplies to be replenished "within the next few days," in time for yom tov.
