NY Law Enforcement Ramps Up Road Safety Efforts Ahead of Labor Day
By BoroPark24 Staff
State Police and local law enforcement agencies across New York will step up patrols and sobriety checkpoints from Aug. 15 through Sept. 1 as part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, Governor Kathy Hochul announced.
The effort aims to target impaired and reckless drivers during the busy end-of-summer travel period.
Officials said the initiative will include marked patrol cars and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement vehicles to spot violations more effectively. Last year’s campaign resulted in more than 20,000 tickets statewide, including nearly 1,000 for drug- or alcohol-impaired driving. Authorities are urging motorists to plan ahead, use the “Have a Plan” app, and follow New York’s Move Over Law to help keep the roads safe.
