NYC Ferry Service Disrupted Due to Ice Buildup

By Y.M. Lowy

NYC Ferry service experienced significant disruptions due to ice buildup in the East and Hudson Rivers, forcing ferries to skip multiple landings and cancel trips across several routes.

According to NYC Ferry, ice conditions have made it unsafe for vessels to dock at certain locations. As a result, the following landings are being temporarily skipped until further notice: Battery Park City, Pier 79, Atlantic Avenue/Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Service alerts were issued for multiple routes, including the East River Route and the St. George Route, with several trips canceled throughout the day. Ferry officials warned that service on all routes, as well as additional landings, could be suspended or delayed with little or no notice depending on conditions.

NYC Ferry says updates will be provided if ice conditions improve and service is able to resume at affected landings.
