NYC Launches New Smart Curbs

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has created a program that allows people in the Upper West Side of Manhattan to track curb-related problems, making it the first Smart Curbs neighborhood, as a test and see if its a success worth to expand further.
The new pilot program works through a user-friendly online feedback map allowing locals to report locations with curb-related issues, which can be anything from double parking to truck deliveries. It also includes the ability to share parking availability.
The DOT's goal with this program is to utilize the feedback to guide future curb layouts in order to reconfigure city streets to meet demand.
The DOT will hold a set of workshops next month to give people the opportunity to share and learn how to utilize and take advantage of the online feedback map.
