NYC Launches ‘Rewind’ Campaign to Fight Dangerous Driving
By Yisroel R.
The New York City Department of Transportation has launched a new “Rewind” safety campaign aimed at stopping dangerous driving across the city. The campaign shows drivers making risky choices, like speeding or running red lights, and the deadly consequences that follow. The message is clear: “One choice can change everything. You can’t rewind a crash.”
City officials said the ads are meant to remind New Yorkers that a split-second decision behind the wheel can affect entire families and communities. The $3 million campaign targets groups most involved in serious crashes, including male drivers, and will run on TV, radio, digital platforms, buses, billboards, and inside major arenas like Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center.
The campaign will be multilingual, with ads available in 12 languages, including Yiddish, to reach communities across the city.
Several agencies and safety organizations praised the effort and commended Mayor Eric Adams and his administration for investing in stronger Vision Zero education. Officials noted that traffic deaths are already down this year and said this campaign is another important step in keeping New Yorkers safe on the roads.
