NYC will Furlough 9,000 Workers
Mayor Bill de Blasio, on Wednesday, announced the expansion of furloughs, extending to all managerial and non-represented city employees.
This statement is an extension of last weeks when the Mayor announced a week of furloughs for his office's employees that will last between October and March.
The expansion comes as NYC faces staggering tax revenue shortfalls, and Albany fails to authorize borrowed funds.
The layoffs will save $21 million but at the expense of 9,000 employees.
