NYPD 66th Precinct Seizes Massive Illegal Fireworks Haul

As July 4th celebrations approached, officers from the NYPD’s 66th Precinct took swift action to keep the skies and the streets safe, seizing a massive stash of illegal fireworks before they could be set off in the neighborhood.
The fireworks, which were enough to create a dangerous and unregulated display, were confiscated as part of the NYPD’s ongoing crackdown on illegal pyrotechnics. The precinct emphasized the serious risks that come with fireworks in the wrong hands, including potential fires, injuries, and panic in densely populated areas like Boro Park.
“We seized a massive haul of illegal fireworks before they could light up the sky — and not in a good way,” the precinct posted on social media. “Stay safe, celebrate smart, and leave the pyrotechnics to the pros.”
Just last night, illegal fireworks sparked loud explosions and flashes of light on 42nd Street and 13th Avenue, waking up and scaring many local residents.
