The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who stole a debit card from a 63-year-old man in Boro Park after a caller posing as a TD Bank representative claimed there was fraudulent activity on his account.

The incident happened on Friday, October 9, at around 1 p.m., on 42nd Street and 16th Avenue. The victim received a phone call from someone claiming to represent TD Bank and telling him that fraudulent activity had been detected on his account.

The caller instructed the man to provide his PIN and said someone would come to his home to collect his debit card for further investigation. A person subsequently arrived and took the card. Police said an unauthorized withdrawal of $4,800 was later made from the victim’s account.

The NYPD has released media showing the individual who collected the debit card and is asking anyone who recognizes the person or has information about the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
