Ongoing Street Work: No Parking on 53rd and 55th Street

By Y.M. Lowy

No parking signs are once again up in Boro Park as repaving continues across the neighborhood this summer.

Tomorrow, 55th Street between 12th and 13th Avenue will be off-limits to parked cars, along with the entire stretch of 53rd Street from 14th to 18th Avenue. Crews have been out early each morning, and towing has been active for any vehicles left behind. As reported on BoroPark24 today, road work was done on 44th Street following the towing operation to remove the cars.

The current phase involves breaking up the old pavement and then reopening the street for normal use until a future date when the new surface will be poured.

While the streets are quieter with many families upstate for the summer, residents should still be ready for traffic shifts and occasional closures. Boro Park residents are grateful to the DOT for taking advantage of the summer lull to get this essential work done with less disruption.
