Owl’s Head Park’s $8 Million Renovation Is Complete - Have You Seen It Yet?
By Y.M. Lowy
After being closed for more than a year for construction, the playground at Owl’s Head Park in Bay Ridge opened back in March and is welcoming guests once again.
BoroPark24 first reported last summer when work began on the long-awaited renovation. After almost a year of construction, the project has been completed and the park has reopened with a completely transformed look.
The $8 million renovation includes a brand-new playground with modern equipment for children of all ages, including accessible and inclusive play features, as well as a dedicated sensory and quiet play area. The popular spray shower has also been rebuilt, giving children a place to cool off during the summer.
Beyond the playground, visitors will notice new landscaping, improved drainage, upgraded lighting, and a new adult fitness area. The nearby Billy Lake basketball courts have also been fully reconstructed with new court surfaces, hoops, seating, and other upgrades.
The project officially wrapped up earlier this year, and NYC Parks held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in June to celebrate the reopening.
For families looking for an updated playground or a summer outing close to home, Owl’s Head Park is once again open and ready for visitors with its newly renovated play areas, basketball courts, and waterfront views.
