Partial NYC Ferry Service Resumes, Sunset Park Landing Still Closed

Partial NYC Ferry Service Resumes, Sunset Park Landing Still Closed

By Y.M. Lowy

NYC Ferry service is beginning a partial return starting February 11 after a systemwide shutdown caused by heavy ice conditions, but the Sunset Park landing, the closest stop for Boro Park riders, will remain closed for now.

Ferry officials said they have been checking each landing throughout the closure to see where service can safely restart. Ice conditions are still changing in many locations, making some stops unreliable. However, several landings along the western edge of the East River and in the Bronx are now consistently clear enough to resume operations.

Because of that, only select routes and landings will reopen at this stage. The Sunset Park/BAT landing is not yet included in the reopening list.

NYC Ferry says monitoring will continue and additional landings will reopen once conditions allow safe and dependable service.
