Port Authority Introduces Toll Adjustments

New toll adjustments from the Port Authority of NY and NJ are going into effect next week, on July 6th.

On that date, the Tolls by Mail rate will increase at all Port Authority crosses for regular vehicles and motorcycles, classes 1,7, and 11. To avoid those increases, commuters are encouraged to sign up to E-ZPass so get the discounted rates.

In addition, a Mid-Tier toll rate is being introduced which will add an extra charge for drivers whose E-ZPass tags aren’t mounted properly on their windshield. If the tag isn’t mounted for a proper reading, there will be a slightly higher charge to cover the extra cost in processing the transaction. However, the Mid-Tier rate is still lower than the Tolls by Mail rate.
