Prospect Park Launches 5-Year Improvement Strategy
By Idy Perl
Prospect Park is an iconic location right outside Boro Park that draws more than 10 million visitors annually. Since COVID there has been a significant rise in visitors throughout the day and many nearby residents started seeking out nature again as a refuge from their busy city lives.
To continue providing all visitors with the best park experience, Prospect Park has announced their plans to improve the park over the next five years. The plan includes eight different stages which all aim to better serve the community.
The plan includes ways to improve the maintenance and operations of the park to keep it pleasant and clean in order to continue encouraging visits from locals. They will also be studying how the park both helps climate change and ways to reduce the park’s carbon footprint.
The park will also explore ways to connect with the community and offer health and wellness programs in the park, as well as youth development programs to inspire the next generation of park-goers.
Lastly, since implementing these programs will increase the park’s budget by $2.5 million, they will be focusing on fundraising and the financial security and longevity of the park.
