Rachmastrivka Bais Medrash in Boro Park to Undergo Major Renovation Project
A major renovation project is getting underway at the Rachmastrivka Bais Medrash in the heart of Boro Park, marking the first comprehensive overhaul of the building in more than two decades.
The bais medrash, which has served as a center of Torah and tefillah for the past 23 years, is the very place where the previous Rachmastrivka Rebbe zt"l, conducted his avodas hakodesh. Today, it continues to serve as the spiritual home of the kehillah under the leadership of his son and successor, the Rachmastrivka Rebbe shlita.
After more than 23 years of constant use, community leaders determined that the building requires a significant modernization. The project will include extensive renovations to both the main heichel and the lower level, which houses the mikvah, several shtiblech, and other essential community facilities.
The first phase of the project will focus on a complete reconstruction of the lower level. Beginning this Sunday, Parshas Re'eh, the entire downstairs area will be closed as construction gets underway.
During the renovation, the Belz Bais Medrash on 45th Street has graciously opened its mikvah for members of the Rachmastrivka community. The kehillah's daily minyanim will continue uninterrupted, with the main bais medrash temporarily divided into three separate davening areas to accommodate the various tefillos.
The upgraded lower level will feature an additional shtibel, expanded mikvah facilities with more showers, renovated and expanded bathrooms, a spacious coffee room, and a newly designed shamash room, along with other improvements.
Once the downstairs work is completed, attention will turn to the main heichal bais medrash, which will receive a complete renovation, including new marble finishes, elegant doors, updated lighting, and other enhancements aimed at beautifying the makom Torah and tefillah.
Throughout the construction, the Rachmastrivka Rebbe shlita will conduct the daily tefillos in the original bais medrash located in the home of the previous Rebbe zt"l.
The renovation is expected to be completed in time for the Yamim Noraim, when the beautifully renewed bais medrash will reopen to welcome the many mispallelim who fill its halls throughout the year.
