Rav Yitzchok Meir Morgenstern to Inaugurate Beis Medrash Toras Chochom

This week saw days of elevation and holiness in the American community as the mekubal Rav Yitzchok Meir Morgenstern, rov of Toras Chochom in the holy city of Yerushalayim paid a visit to our communities.

Rav Itche Meir is known for the kedusha that has defined him since childhood. From a very young age, it was apparent to his mechanchim and his friends that he was different. Around the time of his visit, a childhood friend shared two anecdotes that were known about him in his native London.

“When Margaret Thatcher came to visit Pardes House School, all students went out to welcome her—besides for one: Itche Meir who would not look at a woman, however famous and influential she may be.”

The second story he related was: “A melamed once walked past the library and he saw Itche Meir sitting on the floor crying profusely. He was convinced that the boy lose a close relative, r”l. When he asked the boy what his problem is, he said simply, ‘I am struggling to understand a tosafos.’”

In the earlier part of the week, Rav Itche Meir paid whirlwind visits around the Monsey community, including the Chanukas Habayis of Beis Medrash Toras Chochom in Monsey.

Rav Itche Meir is scheduled to inaugurate Beis Medrash Toras Chochom for the study of kabbalah in Boro Park, on 12th Avenue, on Thursday morning, after which he is scheduled to return to Eretz Yisroel.

Wherever he went, he was seen sharing deep words of Torah and kabbalah, and he leaves behind an aura of kedushah and two functioning batei midrash in America under his leadership.
