Readers Write: You Can Bank on It
We're all shaken up - and logically so. After all, our banks, the solid institutions we have put our trust and our funds into, have had the rug pulled out from under them, and our world seems to be teetering one step closer to disaster.
I am writing to share what I saw yesterday afternoon at Signature Bank, which helped me to feel calmer, and your readers as well can rest assured that the bank seems to be moving in the right direction.
I visited the Boro Park branch at 64th and New Utrecht, and no crowds were surging to withdraw money because there were no crowds. There was nothing out of the ordinary, just another Monday at the bank for all intents and purposes.
I know that I am just scratching the surface of what might be the actual reality, but let me say it was good to see "business as usual" at the bank other than the guy from another bank hanging around outside, letting everyone know as they exited that his bank is a reliable one. But is that the truth?
All of us know and believe Hashem decides every person's finances on Rosh Hashana for the next year. Worry won't help one bit, putting faith in institutions - even less. But trusting in Hashem and doing our hishtadlus will help us all.
