Rep. Dan Goldman Denied Entry Again to Brooklyn Detention Center Housing ICE Detainees

U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman says federal officials are blocking his oversight of immigrant detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park.

Goldman returned to MDC on Aug. 13 after being denied entry during a prior unannounced visit and again after a formal request was rejected without explanation. The facility is currently holding more than 100 ICE detainees under a new agreement allowing such placements at federal prisons.

Goldman criticized what he called unlawful efforts by DHS and the Bureau of Prisons to restrict congressional access and raised concerns about detainee conditions.
