Sanitation Truck Hits Subway Pole, Driver Extracted by Emergency Crews

By: Boropark24 staff

Around 3:40 a.m. early Wednesday morning, a sanitation truck belonging to Action Sanitation slammed into a pole supporting the elevated railway line on McDonald Avenue near 18th Avenue.

Fortunately, no damage was done to the subway, but the caboose of the truck was crushed, pinning the driver inside.

Hatzolah, FDNY, and NYPD were on the scene and worked for ten minutes to extract the driver. A second driver was able to escape on his own.

It is unclear what caused the accident, but by 9:00 am, police had concluded their investigation, and the truck was towed from the scene.
