Smoky Forecast for Tomorrow With Diminishing Air Quality

Smoky Forecast for Tomorrow With Diminishing Air Quality

by Mindy Cohn

A potentially thick blanket of toxic smoke is expected to return starting tomorrow as the 300 active Canadian wildfires continue to burn and degrade air quality all the way to New York.

Due to a cold front arriving early Wednesday morning in the northwestern part of New York State, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation predicts that a layer of thick smoke will cover all of New York over the next 36 hours. The diminished air quality is expected to begin in the northwest region of New York and reach downstate regions by Wednesday evening, creating the possibility of elevated levels of fine particulate pollution.

Should the air quality top 100, an Air Quality Health Advisory will go out to areas impacted by smoke as early as this afternoon.

As reported previously by BoroPark24 here - residents, especially those most vulnerable, should take precautions before heading outdoors should the air quality worsen.
