New York City families participating in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) should have received supplementary payments of $95 on Wednesday.
New York families living outside the city should receive their additional payments today.
Since April 2020, the state’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) has provided $234 million for families struggling to make ends meet amidst the economic upheaval caused by the pandemic.
At the end of December, struggling families in New York will receive the maximum benefits, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday.
"These added food benefits are a welcome relief for countless families and individuals across our state," OTDA Commissioner Daniel Tietz said. "We will continue looking for ways to maximize federal dollars to reduce food insecurity and bring assistance to those in need."
