Summer EBT Program Benefits Start Rolling Out

Summer EBT Program Benefits Start Rolling Out

By Idy Perl

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $200 million in food assistance has been issued to more than 1.5 million children in New York.

This comes as part of the new Summer EBT program, which addresses food insecurity among children from low-income family. The program gives $120 per child to eligible families in order to help them provide their children with healthy meals during the summer. Many families have already started receiving the benefits, which will continue for the next few weeks, and approximately 2 million children’s families in total will be receiving these benefits.

“Having access to healthy, nutritious food is essential for children’s health and well-being,” Governor Hochul said. “As New York continues putting money back in the pockets of working families, we’ve already begun sending food assistance to more than 1.5 million kids – and we’re going to keep delivering these benefits to more families in need.”
