Suspects Using Counterfeit Money in Online Transaction and Brandishing Gun Arrested by NYPD

Two people who attempted to use counterfeit money to buy an expensive item off an online advertisement were arrested after a brief pursuit on Monday night.
Teenagers attempted to sell an expensive coat and met up with the two suspects on McDonald Avenue and Avenue J, after seeing the counterfeit money and asking about it, the two perpetrators displayed a gun and attempted to flee.
The NYPD swiftly responded and after a brief foot pursuit arrested one suspect on Bay Parkway and East 3rd and the other on the train station on 18th Ave.
"ONE LESS ILLEGAL GUN! Last night, our Neighborhood Coordination Officers arrested two males after a gunpoint robbery. The suspects lured the victim through the 'OfferUp' app and attempted to pay with counterfeit money," the 66th Precinct posted on X.
