Brooklyn’s 22nd Senate District will see a special election on May 20, 2025, to replace State Senator Simcha Felder, who resigned after winning a City Council seat. The candidates are set: Sam Sutton, a Sephardic community leader, will run as the Democratic nominee, and Nachman Caller, a Republican district leader, will run as the GOP candidate.
Sutton, co-leader of the Sephardic Community Federation, was unanimously chosen by the Brooklyn Democratic Party. “It’s time for me to contribute directly within government,” he said, highlighting his community work in the neighborhood. Caller, a veteran GOP leader, will represent the Republican Party.
The race is now set to determine South Brooklyn’s next state senator.
