Thunderstorms to Descend on Brooklyn area this Afternoon, Heavy wind and rain expected.

Beginning a bit later this afternoon, our area is likely to see heavy rain and thunderstorms. As the afternoon wears on, the chances are increased for heavier rain.

The winds will move from east to west, along a cold front over our area.

In all, about ¾ of an inch of rain is expected. Being that it will occur in a small timeframe, we can expect the rain to be heavy.

The peak of the storm for our area will most likely be in the late afternoon hours, between 5:00-7:00 p.m.

The storm will cover a very large area, and some 60 million people—across the metro New York area, and heavier in the counties further upstate— are set to be affected by some form of severe weather this afternoon.

Chaverim, and other first-aid organizations, have activated emergency storm protocols in anticipation of this storm.
