Tuesday Election Day: Dan Goldman And Brad Lander Face Off In NY-10 Democratic Primary

Several primary elections are taking place today across New York, including congressional races drawing attention in Brooklyn.

One of the closely contested races is the Democratic primary for New York’s 10th Congressional District, where Congressman Dan Goldman is facing a challenge from former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander.

The district covers parts of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, in an area that is expected to remain heavily Democratic in the November general election.

Goldman, the incumbent, is running for another term in Congress after first being elected in 2022. His campaign has focused on affordability, public safety, protecting democracy, immigration oversight, and defending fundamental rights.

Lander, a former New York City Comptroller and former City Council member from Brooklyn, is running as a progressive challenger. His campaign has focused on affordability, housing, workers’ rights, getting money out of politics, and pushing Democrats to take a stronger position against corporate influence.

The race has also become part of a larger fight inside New York’s Democratic Party. Goldman has support from several major Democratic leaders, while Lander has received backing from Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a number of progressive elected officials.

The candidates have clashed over campaign funding, Israel, Gaza, housing, and which direction the Democratic Party should take going forward. Goldman has emphasized his record in Congress and experience representing the district, while Lander has argued that the district needs a more aggressive progressive voice in Washington.

Polls are open today from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at regular polling locations throughout the district. Voters are encouraged to double-check their polling location online beforehand.
