Two Thieves, Possibly Working Together, Swiped Multiple Bicycles in Boro Park Last Week

By Yehudit Garmaise
A thief was caught on camera cutting the lock off a bicycle that was locked in front of the Karlin-Stolin yeshiva on 18th Avenue and 54th on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 2:40am.
The stolen bike he held by the handlebars while riding another bicycle was just the first of at least four bike thefts that took place in Boro Park last week, Hamodia reported.
Outside of a residence at 18th Avenue and 57th Street, surveillance video caught a different suspect cutting the locks off of two different bicycles with which he absconded: one on Thursday and one on Friday,
As the rain poured down on the neighborhood on Thursday at 7:30pm, the second suspect was caught on camera across the street from the scene of his crime at 18th Avenue and 57th Street, but this time: hiding away his stolen bikes, likely for later sale, a Shomrim volunteer explained.
Then, on Friday at 12:50pm, this time in broad daylight, the second suspect tried his luck again, when he sauntered right back to the scene of the first crime in front of the Karlin-Stolin yeshiva, where he shamelessly cut the locks of two bicycles so that he could ride one away, while holding the other one by the handlebars, just as the first thief has done on Wednesday.
Readers who might have any information about the suspects are urged to contact NYPD.
