Original Article 9:35am:

Boro Park residents are invited to come out tonight, Aug. 6 from 5 to 8 pm, to join the NYPD’s 66th precinct in celebrating the National Night Out Against Crime.

The Community Council and the Community Board 12 join the officers of the 66th Precinct to welcome Boro Parkers to enjoy free food and drinks, rides, bounces, games, and giveaways at 5822 16th Avenue, in front of the precinct.

The purpose of the event is to “build ties between neighbors and law enforcement, while bringing back a true sense of community,” the National Night Out (NNO) website explains.

Since 1984, police departments nationwide have been creating camaraderie in neighborhoods and improving relationships between officers and communities, “to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live,” the NNO website says about the annual event.
