URGENT ALERT for KOHANIM Near Washington Cemetery

The “Vaad Mishmeres Kehunah” is alerting kohanim in the community regarding a spiritual hazard near Washington Cemetery. 

For some time now, there has been ongoing work on McDonald Avenue, alongside the cemetery, and for this reason, a temporary roof has been erected under the tracks. 

This roof extends to the cemetery, and hovers over the graves in the cemetery. This constitutes an “ohel,” (literally, a tent) which would defile the kedushah of a kohen. 

The rabbanim of “Vaad Mishmeres Kehunah” are working with municipal authorities to curtail the temporary roof so that it doesn’t hover over the cemetery, but in the meantime have issued a warning to Kohanim to avoid the entire McDonald Avenue altogether until further notice.
