A 29-year-old man remains in critical condition after being shot late Wednesday night near Webster and Ditmas Avenues, police say.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. outside 928 Coney Island Avenue, where the victim was reportedly standing on the corner when he was struck in the head and body. He was immediately transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he is currently fighting for his life.
Authorities recovered multiple shell casings at the scene and are searching for several suspects who fled in a gray car following the shooting. A bystander on the scene told a BoroPark24 reporter that she heard “at least 7-8 shots,” adding, “They drove by, shot their bullets, and left.”
Police are investigating whether the victim was targeted or an innocent bystander and are looking into any possible connection he may have had to the location, which neighbors say may be a homeless shelter, though that has not been confirmed.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
